Blast Shatter Nigeria Golden Jubilee

At least more than ten people have been killed and several others wounded after two car bombs exploded in Nigeria's capital city, Abuja, as the country marks its 50th independence anniversary.

The explosives detonated on the parade grounds surrounding Eagle Square, where celebrations were under way on Friday morning.

A third, smaller explosion also hit closer to Eagle Square, where the president stood with other dignitaries, injuring one person.

The celebrations seem to continue despite the blast, as the body bags were being removed from Eagle Square, there was a 21 gun salute [...], and all sort of displays are still going on.

President Goodluck Jonathan, dressed in his traditional black fedora hat and dark suit, had inspected ranks of soldiers from the back of an open-top jeep and left in an armoured limousine without making a scheduled national address.

Earlier on Friday morning rebels from the oil-producing area; Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND), threatened to bomb celebrations in the city. In an email, fighters from the Niger delta said bombs had been planted at the venue of Friday's lavish parade attended by senior officials and foreign dignitaries.

"Several explosive devices have been successfully planted in and around the venue by our operatives working inside the government security services," the email, signed by Jomo Gbomo, said.

The message urged people to evacuate by 09:30 GMT.

"In evacuating the area, keep a safe distance from vehicles and trash bins."

However, television footage of the parade at the time the deadline expired showed no reaction by security forces.

The act shows that the security forces on the ground have not been effective because they could have protected the area better. The attackers seem to have backing from inside the security forces. This is a rather embarrassing concern for the government.

Lindsay Lohan Goes to Jail

As expected, Lindsay Lohan failed a court ordered drug test when tested positive for cocaine, and as a result find herself back behind bars.
Lohan arrived the Los Angeles Courthouse on Tuesday Morning (July 20) seven minutes late and is accompanied by her Attorney Shawn Shapman Holley, her dad Michael Lohan and her mom Dina.

During a brief court hearing, Judge Marsha revel said, "At this time she will be remanded to serve her sentence".
" I did the best I could", Lindsay told the judge during the hearing. It looks like the actress broke up in tears when the judge imposed the sentence.

Money, fashion, entertainment and politics, .... that's what we expect as Nigeria celebrates 50 years of self governance. The Golden jubilee which will engulfed N10 billion really showcase the flamboyant and extravagant nature of the Nigerian society, the reckless nature of Nigerian society when it comes to public spending, .... a lifestyle only peculiar to Nigerian state.

Tell me, which other country in the world would spent such a huge amount of Tax payers money on Independence day celebration. Wait !!! It isn't just a celebration, it's a jubilee, ...... not even a silver, it's a Golden jubilee. Isn't it worth celebrating in a Golden (sic- corrupt) way ?, (just kidding).

Inside Tiger Woods Divorce drama

"This is my job, ....... This is what I do"...... These are the words of Woods at a PGA tour event few days after his divorce became official.
Asked if he felt relief that his divorce became official, Woods shook his head ..... " I don't think that's the word", he replied. "I think it's just more sadness. Because I don't think ever going into marriage looking to get divorce. That's thing. That's why it is sad.
Both Woods and Nordegren still could not forget the thanksgiving 2009 car crash - the night their marriage began to dissolve.
When asked by a Tabloid columnist about his ex-wife, Woods replied " I wish her the best in everything" .... "You know it's a sad time in our lives, and we are looking forward in our lives and how we can help our kids the best way we possibly can. And that's the most important thing.
As for Elen Nordegren, she professed to have no idea that her ex-husband was cheating on her and said she was blindsided by the affair. 'I never suspected, not a one"
"for thr last three and a half years, when all this was going on, I was home a lot more with pregnancies, then the chindren and my school ...... I felt stupid as more things were revealed ..... how could I not have known anything". she continued 'the word betrayal isn't strong enough ..... I felt embarrassed for having been so deceived, I felt betrayed by many people around me ....... initially I thought we had a chance and we tried really hard".
Now that it's over, Nordegren said she's going to do her very best to help her children and also to concentrate on her college studies.

Lindsay Lohan out of rehab

Barely three weeks into a court ordered program expected to last three months, Lindsay Lohan got an early ticket out of rehab Tuesday night.

Lohan 24, was sentenced to 90 days in Jail and another 90 days of in-patient rehab at UCLA's Neuropsychiatric Hospital last month after a judge said she vialoted probation in her back-to-back 2007 DUI cases, which include alcohol and cocaine charges.

She left jail August 2, after just 14 days thanks to her good behaviour and overcrowding. Lohan was released from the Resnick Neuropsychiatric Hospital after doctors recommended an early release since the hospital's intensive in-patient program doesn't typically last 90 days.

Lohan was ordered to remain in California and reside at her west Hollywood home untill her next court date on November 1. At that point, should she obey a modified term of her probation, she will be allow to move out of California. But that could be a big task judging by her track record. Here is what she got to do:

Undergo psychiatric treatment a minimum of four times a week
Attend a chemical dependency test at least five times a week
Contact her dependency counselor at least seven times a week
Attend behavioural therapy twice a week
Submit to random drugs and alcohol testing two times a week
Her attorney must provide biweekly compliance report to court.
